Preparatory School students supported animals in a shelter and organised an environmental awareness event, demonstrating a strong sense of social responsibility.
The English Preparatory School at Near East University continues to organise activities aimed at raising awareness of social responsibility and environmental sustainability. As part of these efforts, students first visited an animal shelter on March 10–11, 2026, where they provided food support for the animals. This visit highlighted students’ sensitivity not only to the environment but also to the well-being of living beings, strengthening their sense of social responsibility.
As a continuation of these initiatives, an environmental awareness event titled “Picnic with a Purpose” was held on April 22, 2026. The event was coordinated by Ms. Nazan Eris and brought together volunteer teachers and students.
Held in a natural setting, the event offered participants the opportunity to socialise while also confronting a striking reality: the area was heavily polluted, with very few clean or shaded spaces available. Despite the participants’ dedicated efforts, it was not possible to completely clean the area within a single day.
This experience reinforced a key message: individual responsibility plays a crucial role in protecting the environment. Even small actions—such as cleaning the area one uses—can collectively make a significant difference. Leaving spaces cleaner than they were found is a simple yet impactful step toward sustainability.
These initiatives aim to foster environmental awareness and a strong sense of social responsibility among students, emphasising that lasting change begins with small but consistent actions.
